Health benefits of sleeping naked

Cosy pajamas or strip it all off for bedtime? Almost a quarter of Brits embrace the natural side when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep.

Sleeping naked boasts many science-backed advantages that can aid better sleep and positively impact your overall health.

Fall asleep faster and sleep deeper

Your body temperature is one key to how you fall asleep. It’s actually part of your circadian rhythm, the biological rhythm that acts as your body’s “clock” for sleep. Cooling down tells your body that it’s time to sleep, so sleeping naked and allowing your body temperature to go down, can actually help you fall asleep faster.

The best room temperature for sleep is between 15 to 19 degrees celsius.

Decrease stress and stabilize your mood

Poor sleep is connected to so many negative health issues, and it’s no secret a lack of sleep has a major impact on your stress levels. Because sleeping naked can help increase your overall sleep quality, it comes hand in hand with benefitting your own aura. Incorporate some light pre-bed yoga or stretching into your wind down ritual to relieve tension and increase blood flow.

Increase self-esteem and body image satisfaction

Get some nudity-induced confidence. Turns out spending more time in your state of nature can improve confidence and help overcome mental blocks and unrealistic standards.

Since it’s typically difficult to do as you go about your day, try making it a habit as you’re getting ready to hit the sheets. Recenter yourself through meditation or take time to acknowledge your achievements.

Promote vaginal health and protect male fertility

Wearing underwear that’s too tight or made of materials that trap heat and moisture can increase a woman’s risk of developing a yeast infection. So many gynecologists advise going commando as a preventive measure.

Lad’s, sleeping naked keeps testicles cool at an optimal temperature for sperm health!

Boost intimacy and relationships

While intercourse can be a great part of your relationship, sleeping naked with your partner can be just as wonderful. Skin-to-skin contact between adults stimulates the release of oxytocin, which plays an important role in building attachments, more so than clothed cuddling (although we’re fans of all cuddles).

Invest in breathable sheets and a scented sleep aroma you can enjoy together.
